Police Scotland are currently investigating a telephone scam which has again come to our attention regarding a particular method.
Members of the public are being contacted by criminals purporting to be from Royal Bank of Scotland fraud prevention advising fraudulent activities with their account and asking them to call back on the number on the back of their card. This lulls people into a false sense of security but in reality the fraudster is still on the line and intercepts the call.
No passwords or account details are asked for at the time but the member of the public is asked to visit their branch and transfer money into another account as part of the process and NOT to disclose any details to bank staff as they are under investigation.
Please be aware and share with friends/neighbours and colleagues and in particular keep an eye on the elderly who are especially vulnerable to this.
